Enrollment
We may have to cancel a course for a variety of reasons. If we do have to cancel a course, you will receive a full refund.
Syracuse University values diversity and inclusion; we are committed to a climate of mutual respect and full participation. There may be aspects of the instruction or design of the courses that result in barriers to your inclusion and full participation in the course. Please disclose any specific accommodations that you may need during the registration process, and we will do our best to work with you to find a compatible solution.
- For asynchronous courses, progress will be reviewed, and grades will be posted within 15 business days of the student completing all course requirements.
- For courses with a specified instructional period, students can expect a grade to be posted within 15 business days.
If you have any course specific questions, you can refer to the contact information listed under “Sponsoring Department Contact Information”. If none is listed, you can always contact the Office of Microcredentials at microcredential@syr.edu or 315.443.2588.
Generally, these courses are open to the public. However, the courses may have a target audience and those who will be most successful in taking this course.
Most courses with required work will result in awarding of a digital badge or certificate of achievement. Courses or webinars in which attendance is the only activity necessary will not receive a digital badge or certificate of achievement.
Policies
These courses are for those 18 years and older, unless otherwise specified.
Submitting work or completing coursework late will be handled on a course-by-course basis by permission of the instructor.
It is standard policy that Syracuse University asks the disciplinary history question. Your disclosure will be reviewed but will not necessarily affect your enrollment in any noncredit course.
Drops and refunds will be handled on a course-by-course basis.
Policies for missing class will be listed on the course page. Please ensure that you communicate with your instructor if you are unable to attend a session so you can make up the work to get full credit.
Syracuse University Resources
As a rule, you cannot earn college credit for a noncredit course. But, some institutions allow you to use the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) to evaluate whether credit can be transferred into a given program.
Access to Syracuse University resources will differ course by course. In order to find a list of all available resources to those enrolled in a specific course, please review the course page.

At this time, SU employees with the remitted tuition benefit will not be able to use it for non-credit course.
There are limited financial aid opportunities for non-credit coursework. Please contact your financial advisor if non-credit courses you take may apply to your financial aid individually.
